How to choose an instrument

How do I choose the right instrument to start with?
Start with what draws you in: the style of music you love, the sound that moves you, and the space you have at home. No choice is final. Book a trial lesson and we'll match you with a teacher who helps you see whether the instrument fits before you go further.
Which instrument is best for a young child?
For little ones from age 3, musical awakening builds the ear and a sense of rhythm before learning an instrument. Private lessons usually begin around age 5 to 6; piano and ukulele are common starting points, but the right choice mostly depends on the child's interest.
Do I need to own my own instrument?
Not to begin. For a first trial lesson, just show up; we'll then talk through what you'll need depending on the instrument you choose. Piano is practised on site, and many families wait a few lessons before buying or renting an instrument.
Can I switch instruments later?
Yes. Because there's no contract, you're not locked into anything long term. If another instrument appeals to you after a few lessons, tell your teacher and we'll adjust your path across our 17 instruments.
